Salam Gigi Sehat
Jangan anggap remeh kesehatan gigi dan mulut anak. Banyak orang tidak pernah membayangkan bahwa masalah gigi dan mulut anak dapat berpengaruh pada perkembangan anak. Maka dari itu, betapa penting perhatian orangtua terhadap kesehatan gigi dan mulut anak, terutama anak-anak yang masih balita. Sebab, kondisi gigi susu akan menentukan pertumbuhan gigi tetap si anak.
Selain itu, bila anak memiliki gigi yang tidak sehat, dia akan sulit mencerna makanan sehingga proses pertumbuhan si anak akan terganggu. Akibatnya, anak akan mudah terserang penyakit. Setiap orangtua sebaiknya menanamkan suatu prinsip dalam dirinya bahwa anak-anak harus bebas dari rasa sakit gigi dan memberi mereka awal kehidupan yang baik sehingga mereka mampu bersaing di masa depan.
Pertumbuhan gigi pada anak ditandai dengan pemunculan gigi pada permukaan gusi dan diikuti dengan perubahan posisi gigi dari dalam tulang pendukung gigi untuk menempati posisi fungsionalnya dalam rongga mulut. Masa pemunculan gigi secara klinis merupakan suatu tanda pertumbuhan seorang anak.
Mulai tumbuhnya gigi merupakan proses penting pertumbuhan seorang anak. Orangtua harus mengetahui cara merawat gigi anaknya. Orangtua juga harus mengajari anaknya cara merawat gigi dengan baik, yaitu dengan memberi contoh cara menyikat gigi yang benar.
Pelaksanaan Pada TK Dharma Wanita Gentong Kota Pasuruan
Bertempat di TK Dharma Wanita Gentong Kota Pasuruan, tanggal 13 Februari 2017, telah diadakan kegiatan penyuluhan dan pemeriksaan gigi oleh perawat gigi Puskesmas Gadingrejo Kota Pasuruan. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 68 orang murid TK A dan TK B Dharma Wanita Gentong.
Kegiatan tersebut merupakan salah satu kegiatan Upaya Keshatan Gigi Sekolah ( UKGS ) merupakan salah satu wujud pelayanan prima Puskesmas Gadingrejo untuk berperan aktif dalam upaya penyembuhan maupun pencegahan dan penularan penyakit.
Kegiatan penyuluhan di TK A dan TK B Dharma Wanita menerangkan mengenai kesehatan gigi, cara menggosok gigi yang benar, makanan bergizi untuk kesehatan gigi, dan penyakit gigi, ditampilkan dengan menggunakan poster dan narasi cerita yang menarik. Pemeriksaan gigi dilakukan dengan tertib, dan para murid cukup kooperatif. Dari 68 murid ada 10 murid dirujuk untuk dilakukan tindakan kuratif di Puskesmas Gadingrejo
FUNGSI GIGI SUSU
Salah satu fungsi gigi susu yang dianggap penting ialah perkembangan fungsi bicara. Kemampuan menggunakan gigi-geligi untuk pengucapan didapatkan seluruhnya dengan bantuan gigi susu. Gigi susu juga berperan dalam fungsi kosmetik dengan perkembangan penampilan anak. Secara tidak langsung cara bicara anak dapat dipengaruhi jika terdapat kesadaran pada dirinya akan kerusakan pada gigi, dan hal ini akan membuatnya malu ketika membuka mulut saat bicara.
Perawatan gigi sejak dini sangat penting untuk menghindari proses kerusakan gigi, seperti gigi berlubang, keropos, dan pembengkakan pada gusi. Anak juga harus diajak atau diperkenalkan secara dini kepada dokter gigi. Hal ini sangat bermanfaat dalam membiasakan pemeriksaan gigi secara rutin dan mengatasi rasa takut anak kepada dokter gigi.
PENTINGNYA PERAN ORANG TUA DALAM MENJAGA KESEHATAN GIGI DAN MULUT ANAK.
Orangtua dapat mencoba cara mengenalkan dokter gigi kepada anak, yaitu dengan mengajak anak ikut serta saat ibu atau ayahnya memeriksakan gigi. Cara ini juga mengenalkan anak pada suasana ruangan dokter gigi, suara-suara mesin, dan peralatan yang digunakan dokter. Anak juga dapat melihat bagaimana ibu atau ayahnya tetap tenang saat dokter gigi melakukan perawatan.
Selain itu, orangtua harus memerhatikan pola makan anak. Jangan terlalu sering memberi anak makanan yang manis dan lengket. Sebab, makanan jenis ini mudah tertinggal dan melekat pada gigi, dan bila terlalu sering serta lama akan berakibat tidak baik. Makanan manis dan lengket tersebut akan bereaksi di dalam mulut dan membentuk asam yang merusak email gigi.
Upaya tersebut dapat berupa penyikatan gigi, kumur-kumur, dan pembersihan gigi dengan kapas atau kain basah pada balita. Bila anak sudah agak besar, orangtua harus dapat membantu anak untuk memulai rutinitas menggosok gigi. Caranya dengan mengajari dan memberi contoh bagaimana cara memegang sikat gigi dan menggosok gigi dengan benar. Kebersihan gigi dan mulut hanya dapat dicapai dengan menyikat gigi secara benar, rutin, dan teratur setiap hari, terutama menjelang tidur, agar permukaan gigi terbebas dari plak.
