Pemberian AIR SUSU IBU (ASI) secara eksklusif merupakan langkah ke dua (setelah menjaga dan mendukung tumbuh kembang janin saat dalam rahim ) dalam Periode 1000 Hari Pertama Kehidupan untuk mendukung tumbuh kembang bayi. Sudah kita ketahui bersama betapa pentingnya pemberian ASI eksklusif, tidak hanya untuk mendukung tumbuh kembang, tetapi juga mendukung kecerdasan emosional bayi.
Indikator keberhasilan pemberian ASI eksklusif hingga bayi berusia 6 bulan (E6) pada tahun 2016 adalah 42% dan 44% di tahun 2017. Angka E6 di UPT Puskesmas Gadingrejo masih berhenti pada 38.3%. Jika dilihat lebih detail lagi pada tingkat kelurahan, hanya Kelurahan Bukir saja yang bisa memiliki pencapaian melampaui target yang telah ditentukan yaitu 59%. Sedangkan untuk Kelurahan Gentong hanya mencapai 33,3%, Kelurahan Sebani 32,8% dan Kelurahan Gadingrejo berhenti pada angka 36%. Kondisi ini menuntut Kami untuk bekerja keras, menggandeng masyarakat untuk meningkatkan jumlah bayi yang mendapatkan ASI secara eksklusif sampai usia 6 bulan.
UPT Puskesmas Gadingrejo membentuk kelompok Motivator ASI. Motivator ASI adalah Kader posyandu yang telah mengikuti pelatihan motivator ASI yang bertugas mencatat bayi yang mendapatkan ASI eksklusif dan memberikan dorongan/semangat kepada ibu dan keluarga untuk memberikan ASI secara eksklusif 0-6 bulan dan memberikan ASI minimal sampai 24 bulan. Motivator ASI, kedepannya nanti bisa bekerja sama dengan Konselor ASI UPT Puskesmas Gadingrejo untuk memotivasi dan mencari solusi dari penyulit yang dihadapi ibu dan keluaga dalam pemberian ASI kepada bayinya.
